I’d like to draw a picture of the woman
walking through the shiny mercury surface of a dime
hot in August the
Bluenose side 19
63 & her
long confident stride gone
as she is enveloped in silver

trusting her judgement the
alcoholic lover will
ignore her absence or
will at least be
unconcerned until her
body appears in a piano concerto that
makes young men weep showing
the woman detached & interchangeable

I’d like to draw that picture & call it
where clocks reign time
